Though the Center for Aesthetic Medicine at Colts Neck utilizes many noninvasive aesthetic treatments, sometimes approaching the skin in a more direct way through injection can be one of the most dramatic and effective ways to reach a patient’s aesthetic goals. Cosmetic injectables are not as disruptive or painful as many might think, and are able to deliver the kind of results that simply cannot be achieved with topically focused treatments.

Dr. Krever works with an advanced skill level that ensures safe, comfortable injections with the best possible outcomes. The recovery time for most injectable treatments is minor, yet the results are visible within days. This combination of patient comfort, striking results, and brief downtime makes cosmetic injections one of our most preferred treatments for non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Do you furrow your brows unconsciously, when focusing or when stressed? In the same way that we may discover we are holding tension in our shoulders and neck at the end of a long day, we often contract and overuse muscles in our face without even realizing it. Stress takes enough out of our lives; it should not affect our faces. Botox is an injectable medicine that targets the facial muscles whose contractions cause facial lines. Botox may be administered by Dr. Krever as frequently as every 3-6 months, depending on your specific needs.

Dr. Krever uses her considerable skill to administer precise injections, carefully relaxing specific muscles and reducing lines and restoring lift without compromising expression. Botox is a treatment that is quickly learned by many injectors but rarely mastered. If you have had problems in the past with Botox (droopy brows or eyelids, worsened lines or distorted expression), you shouldn’t assume that Botox is not a good treatment for you. In the same way that getting a bad haircut does not make all haircuts a bad idea, the results of Botox are much more about the technique and skill of the injector than the product itself. Curious? Schedule a consultation to discuss your potential for Botox with Dr. Krever.

CFAM offers a multitude of treatment options to accommodate every type of patient and facial concern. Dysport is an alternative to Botox consisting of a similar botulinum toxin. It has been used widely in Europe for 20+ years and received FDA approval for use in the US in 2009. There are some subtle differences with this product compared to Botox, and based on your needs it can be used in addition to or instead of Botox. Talk to Dr. Krever to understand which medicine is more appropriate for you.

Xeomin is the latest player in the category of muscle relaxing, line-reducing treatments. Many consider it an evolution of Botox in that it retains the molecular foundation of the original but strips away accessory proteins, resulting in an even more highly refined product. The resulting effect is softer, gentler and remarkably natural looking. It is a perfect treatment for those new to injected wrinkle-relaxers or anyone looking for an effortless, fresh appearance.

Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for a more youthful-looking appearance. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, Sculptra Aesthetic helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production to help restore its inner structure and increase facial volume that has been lost to aging.

Kybella is a non-surgical injectable for reducing moderate to severe fat on the upper neck, otherwise known as a “double chin.” The injection contains a naturally occurring molecule which eats away at fat.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin function by reducing overactive facial muscle movement. Another way to reduce facial lines and alleviate wrinkles is by restoring lost facial volume that comes with age. As we age, we lose naturally occurring hyaluronan, the substance that creates the look and feel of dermal fullness. Facial fillers replace this compound to restore youthful contours. Cosmetic fillers may also be used in lip augmentation. CFAM offers a number of facial filler brands to correspond with patient needs. Our team will consult with you to determine which treatment and frequency are appropriate.

Juvederm has been available in the US since 2006. It uses a specially formulated type of hyaluronic acid (HA) that exists naturally in your skin. It is a natural, biodegradable gel that flows easily and smoothly into your skin, instantly filling out those troublesome facial lines leaving a smooth and natural look and feel. So, you’ll notice an immediate difference after just one anti-wrinkle treatment. It is available in two different consistencies (Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus) which Dr. Krever can choose from to customize your treatment. As with most all of the HA fillers, Juvederm can be used in a number of different applications including smile lines, lips, cheeks, under-eye and more.

Voluma is the newest member of the Juvederm family of products to be approved by FDA in the US. It features a longer duration and a robust consistency that makes it perfect for correcting age-related volume loss to the cheek and midface area. By restoring flattened and volume depleted areas, youthful contours reappear and provide lift and softness.

Restylane was the first non-animal source HA filler to be approved in the US in 2003. Like Juvederm, it is a wrinkle correcting and volume boosting injectable gel that closely resembles your body’s own hyaluronic acid. Dr. Krever can administer Restylane into your skin through a fine needle or cannula in small quantities to support your skin’s structure and provide youthful volume. It is extremely versatile and can be used virtually anywhere in the face to restore a more youthful appearance.

As we age and our faces lose volume, some of us begin to look for ways to regain more definition in our cheeks without surgery. Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face.

Restylane Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler indicated to provide lift to cheeks and add volume to correct and smooth smile lines (nasolabial folds).

RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler works differently than the HA fillers because it stimulates the body to produce its own collagen rather than simply replacing the lost volume with HA. It consists of fine calcium microspheres that are suspended in a gel carrier. Unlike other collagen stimulating products such as Sculptra that need to be placed in multiple sittings and can take weeks to yield results, Radiesse shows correction immediately. Once injected, RADIESSE Volumizing Filler adds the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging. What makes RADIESSE truly unique is the ability of the product to act as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. The production of natural collagen continues for several months, which extends beyond the initial effect of RADIESSE Volumizing Filler. Best of all, the natural results are clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients.

Approved by the FDA in 2012, Belotero is a hyaluronic-acid based product that features a blended consistency that has characteristics of both higher and lower cross-linked fillers. This translates into a versatility that allows it to be used in finer etched-in lines and other delicate areas without compromising resiliency.
